SEPTA Track Drainage Installation (Updated August 16, 2019)
Drilling and jacking work under the SEPTA tracks at three separate locations will begin Friday, July 12, 2019 and is expected to conclude on Sunday, August 18, 2019. The work at each of the three locations will start on a Friday night at 6:00 pm and will be completed Sunday night.
The UPDATED schedule will be as follows:
- Crossing No. 3: Work will begin on Friday, August 16 at 11:00 pm to Sunday, August 18 at 11:59 pm. This crossing is behind 854 and 860 Tyson Avenue.
Work Performed to Date
As of July 31, 2019, the contractor is continuing with drainage installation on the south side of Tyson Ave. between Custer Ave. and Bradfield Road and on the north side of Tyson Ave. between Edge Hill Road and Edgecomb Ave. Construction of concrete curb and sidewalk continues in these areas also. Asphalt paving of the first two courses is complete on the south side of Tyson Ave. between Edge Hill Road and Custer Ave. The utility companies are continuing with relocation of water and gas mains as well as individual services to resident properties. Utility pole and aerial service relocations will continue on Edge Hill Road and Tyson Ave. as well as side roads. Installation of the first of three new drainage crossings under the SEPTA tracks is complete. Construction of the Restorative Conveyance drainage swale is complete in Hillside cemetery.
Upcoming Work to be Performed
In August, the contractor will continue drainage construction on the south side of Tyson Ave. between Custer Ave. and Bradfield Road and on the north side of Tyson Ave. between Edge Hill Road and Edgecomb Ave. Installation of the two remaining drainage crossings under the SEPTA tracks will take place in August. Water main, gas main and utility pole and service relocations will continue. New concrete curb and sidewalk construction will continue on the north side of Tyson Ave. between Edge Hill Road and Ardsley Ave. One‐way traffic eastbound will be maintained on Tyson Ave. between Edge Hill Road and Ardsley Ave. with two‐way local traffic between Ardsley Ave. and Easton Road.

"Tyson Avenue will be closed and detoured between Ardsley Avenue and Bradfield Road in Abington Township, Montgomery County on Monday, July 15, through the end of August, for drainage work on a project to improve safety and travel on Tyson Avenue, Edge Hill Road, Jenkintown Road and several adjacent township roads, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During the closure, Tyson Avenue motorists will be detoured over Edge Hill Road and Easton Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.In addition to the closure and detour, Tyson Avenue will be reduced to a single lane between Edge Hill Road and Ardsley Avenue.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur."
