Recycling Tips
Waste Reduction Tips
- To reduce the amount of waste that we pay to landfill,
reduce the amount of garbage you generate.
- Buy durable, refillable and reusable rather than
disposable products.
- Purchase products sold in recyclable containers
and those made from recycled material.
- Select products with the least packaging, like
concentrated products.
- Buy items in bulk and in refillable containers.
- Use dish towels and napkins instead of paper.
- Bring your own bags to the store.
- Share magazines and newspapers with a friend, nursing
home, hospital or library.
- Reuse bags and containers that can't be recycled.
- Sell or donate used goods such as clothing, furniture
and toys to a thrift shop, day care center, charity
or second hand store instead of throwing them away.
- Write to companies that send unwanted junk mail,
have them take you off their mailing list.
What you can do at the office:
- Use scrap paper for informal notes or messages.
- Print things on recycled paper.
- Re-use copies or printer paper when possible.
- Re-use manila envelopes & folders.
- Post memos & communications or route a single
copy instead of making multiple copies.
