US Sports Institute

The US Sports Institute Sports Squirts Program introduces children ages 3 to 5 to a variety of sports such as Soccer, T-Ball, Basketball, Lacrosse and Hockey, all taking place in a safe structured environment ensuring learning is taking place. Activities are designed to evoke a child’s imagination in which they can Find Nemo, send Shrek into a spin or capture jellyfish with Sponge Bob Square Pants. All activities promote hand-eye coordination, movement and balance, and most importantly fun, fun, fun!

A great 6 week outdoor tennis clinic for all level players, including beginners! Instruction for kids ages 6-16 in both basics and drills designed to learn to play tennis or improve their game, while having lots of fun! Organized games and match play, singles, and doubles play! Conveniently located at Alverthorpe Park Tennis Courts and taught by the tennis professionals from L3 Tennis.

Haunted House Clay Studio

Design your own clay house, whether it’s based on a favorite haunted
house from a story or trip or your own house decorated for holidays!
During this clay studio families can work together to create the most unique, frightening house imaginable, or compete against each other see who can make the scariest house on the block. Using hand building, texture, and template techniques each person will learn how to build a house and decorate
it uniquely to their own designs. The houses will be taken to the Potteryworks Mobile Studio where they will be fired and then returned one week from the original Studio date. Once houses are returned place a battery operated light in your house for an additional spooky effect!
All materials included.

Dog and Cat Bowls
Spoil your favorite canine and feline friends with a personalized food or water bowl. Enjoy getting your hands dirty as you learn basic hand building, shaping, texture and glazing techniques. All materials included for making one bowl. These make great gifts!

AIKIDO At Ardsley
Aikido teaches self-defense using techniques of evasion, immobilization, and redirection to avoid an attack and then control the attacker. Students will learn to use the opponent’s force by neutralizing the aggressor’s actions. Self-defense, coordination, physical fitness, and confidence are all reasons to study Aikido. Children’s classes are open to all skill levels.

The little ninjas curriculum consists of developing eight major skills that are necessary for participation in any sport or activity. Parent - Child Yoga

Come have some fun with us, 45 minute complimentary classes being offered as an introduction to yoga. Parent and Child classes promote early development and provide a strong foundation for your child’s mental and physical well-being. And since you’re along for the ride, you’ll be right there to enjoy with smiles, hugs and the occasional adult-sized giggles. If you have a mat please bring one, there will be a limited amount of extra mats that will be cleansed after each class.

Playful Chef

Children In Motion

“Children in Motion” is an arts program for the young (Ages 7-12). If your dream is to act, sing, dance and improvise, this program is for you!

The director, Denise Germont-Risser, aka Miss “D”, is a nationally acclaimed children’s recording artist, vocal performer of many genres and musicals, music teacher and drama director of endless amounts of plays.

The production of Golly, Ghee Whiz is a musical set in the 1930’s and 40’s. A group of talented singers and actors wish to perform but where? Join us for this innocent yet fun-loving musical!

All of the action will take place at the Ardsley Community Center. The final “show” will be performed on the gymnasium stage on the last day of the program. Families, friends and the general public are welcome to attend.

This course is sure to teach you and thrill you right to the very last moment of your performance on the last day!

Fall Skill Development Clinics

We are pleased to welcome Challenger Sports’ to Abington Township during the Fall of 2015! Mini Kicker’s will learn to kick, run, move the ball and participate in lots of fun games, all with a soccer ball at their feet! The skills development clinic will teach all the skills required for soccer, from passing and shooting, to dribbling and heading. The clinics will involve soccer drills, practices, fun games and scrimmages in order to develop skill and technique, in a fun soccer environment. Do you love to act? Do you love the theatre? Theathre Horizon students work together to create an original play full of drama, comedy, suspense, and one-of-a-kind characters. Students are guided through play writing basics and fun improvisation games by our professional teaching artists who are trained in collaborative theater and use those skills to create an environment in which every student contributes and rises to the challenge. Theatre Horizon Drama Club nurtures each child’s talent, creativity, and unique voice while teaching skills of stagecraft, self confidence, creativity and imaginative play and how to work an ensemble!

Shining Knights Chess Club
Learn to play chess! Students of this program have competed in local, state, and national tournaments, placing as high as 10th in the nation. Class time is evenly split between lesson and play. Lesson topics range from learning the rules to advanced tournament strategies. During play time students are paired with opponents of similar skill levels for practice games.

Create your Own Comics!
Do you love to draw? Do you doodle on any scrap paper you can find? Have you ever thought about creating your very own comic strip? If you have answered YES to any of these questions then sign up for this wonderful comics workshop! Learn techniques to create your very own Comic strip OR Comic Book!!! Explore how to invent characters and develop a story line. Learn to apply different drawing techniques so you are equipped to illustrate your very own unique comic. An active imagination is a MUST for this workshop!

Let’s Do Robotics
Yes, We CAN learn about Robotics! With the LEGO™ WeDo Robotics Kits, you can build and program your own robotic creations. Designed by the experts at MIT, this system teaches simple machines, engineering, and programming. In this hands-on class, robots rule!
