Fall Soccer
Squirts
United Soccer Academy’s
Fall Soccer Squirts programs for 3 to 5 year old
boys and girls will occur on Fridays during the
day. The classes run over 7 weeks, one hour per
week.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of soccer
in a fun filled environment through a program
of structured activities and fun games. The soccer-based
activities promote the development of motor skills,
encourage group interaction, develop communication
skills, in addition to being an excellent form
of exercise.
Location: Alverthorpe Park
Ages: 3 to 5 years old

Serve Tennis Adademy
FSTA has provided high-end tennis
programs to recreation departments and organizations
for over a decade. We truely believe that the
coach is the most essential part of the learning
process. Each coach works individually with the
participants to teach, encourage and challenge
them. Our goals are to enhance tennis fundamentals,
focus on strategy and create a supportive and
fun environment.
Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate,
or advanced player, our high-end instruction will
help you play better tennis and get more enjoyment
from the game.
All
FSTA Programs will be held Saturdays, 9/27/08
to 11/1/08 at the Alverthorpe Park Tennis Courts.
Pee Wee Tennis
For children with limited or no experience. Students
will learn fundamentals of strokes, grips, and
footwork.
Ages: 3-4 years old
Time: 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Cost: $95 per person
Hot Shot
Tennis
Participants will learn general coordination skills.
Fundamentals of strokes, grips and footwork are
covered. Plus games!!!
Ages: 5-6 years old
Time: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Cost: $95 per person
Junior Tennis
Level 1
Participants will establish a sound technical
foundation of the basic grips, strokes and footwork
with an introduction to some competitive games.
Ages: 7-10 years

Time: 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm
Cost: $140 per person
Junior Tennis
Level 2
All strokes and spins will be covered as well
as basic strategy. Beginner, Intermediate, and
Advanced players welcome.

Ardsley  Community
Center Annual Halloween Party
The Ardsley Community
Center will be holding its annual Family Halloween
Party on Saturday, October 11, 2008 for neighborhood
children from 6 to 10 years of age. Activities
include a costume contest, a pinata and lots
of games.
Registration will be limited to the first 100
people (including parents) and tickets will
be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Forms and fees must be received at the Ardsley
Community Center no later than Friday, October
3, 2008.
Prizes given out at the party are not recommended
for children under five (5) years old.

Scarecrow
Making Workshop
Get
out your tattered clothes, worn out shoes and
old hats, it’s time to make a scarecrow!
Join us at the Shelter Building in Alverthorpe
Park as we bring straw to life this autumn.
Straw will be supplied by Tenari Greenhouses,
Inc., posts will be supplied by Everlasting
Fence Co. and clothing will be supplied by Abby’s
Thrift Shop. Completed scarecrows will be put
on display around the Park.

House Decorating Workshop
THIS PROGRAM IS FULL
Come join us in the holiday spirit!
This children’s only workshop will allow
children ages 7-12 to decorate their own pre-made
gingerbread house. Perfect as a holiday gift
or decoration. We supply the materials, you

2 Ball Competition

event. Teams of two alternate shots from designated
spots for one minute trying to accumulate the

Aikido
at Ardsley
Aikido teaches self-defense using
techniques of evasion, imm obilization,
and redirection to avoid an attack and then
control the attacker. Students will learn to
use the opponent’s force by neutralizing
the aggressor’s actions. Self-defense,
coordination, physical fitness, and confidence
are all reasons to study Aikido. Children’s
classes are open to all skill levels.

Ninjas
The little ninjas
curriculum consists of developing eight major
skills that are necessary for participation in
any sport or activity. They are focus, team work,
control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness
and coordination. In the little ninjas class learning
is fun. Uniforms may be purchased from the instructor.

Knights Chess Club
Learn
how to play chess! Students of Silver Knights
have competed in local, state, and national
tournaments, placing as high at 10th in the
nation. Class time is evenly split between lessons
and play. Lesson topics range from learning
the rules to advanced tournament strategies.
During play time students are paired with opponents
of similar skill levels for practice games.

Children
In Motion
"Children In Motion"
is an arts program for the young (grades 3-12).
If your dream is to act, sing, dance, and improvise
this program is for you!
The director, Denise Germont-Risser, AKA Miss
"D", is a nationally acclaimed children's
recording artist, vocal performer of many genres
and musicals, music teacher and drama director
of endless amounts of plays.
All of the action will take place at the Ardsley
Community Education Center, 2828 Spear Avenue,
Ardsley. "Children in Motion" will
begin on Friday, January 16, 2009 and will last
for 10 weeks. The final "show" will
be performed on the gymnasiums stage on the
last day of the program. Families, friends and
the general public are welcome to attend.
This course is sure to teach you and thrill
you right to the very last performance on the
last day!
