New
York City Day Trip
Enjoy a day of shopping or sight-seeing
without the hassle of driving or parking. We will be traveling
by bus to New York City where you will have the option of
three drop off points: The Theatre District (W. 48th Street),
The Hard Rock Cafe (W. 57th Street), or The Metropolitan Museum
of Art (E. 82nd Street). There will be one pick up point,
The Crown Plaza Hotel (49th Street and Broadway).
We will leave from the main parking
lot of Alverthorpe Park at 7:30 AM (sharp) and travel non-stop
to New York. We will leave New York at 5:00 PM from the Crown
Plaza Hotel and return to the park around 7:30 PM.

Radio
City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular The
Bureau of Parks & Recreation has arranged for two 49-passenger
buses to leave from Alverthorpe Park on Thursday, December
3, 2009 for a trip to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular
featuring the Rockettes.
The
buses will leave from the Alverthorpe Park main gate at 7:00
AM, arriving in New York City at approximately 9:15 AM in
front of the Radio City Music Hall. Show time is 2:00 PM.
Seats are confirmed to be in the orchestra section. Before
the show you will be on your own to tour the city.
The
pick up location will be determined the morning of the show
before you exit the bus. We will board the buses promptly
after the show to return home. We will not be stopping on
the way to or from New York. It is suggested that you bring
a snack if needed for the ride. The buses are expected to
return to Alverthorpe Park around 8:00 PM.

Explore
Washington, D.C.
Join us as we travel by motorcoach to Washington D.C. on Saturday,
April 10, 2010. The bus will leave from the main entrance
parking lot of Alverthorpe Park at 7:30 am and return around
9:00 pm. We will dropping off at the Air and Space Museum
and the Holocaust Museum around 11:00 am. The drop off at
the Holocaust Museum is a self guided tour at no additional
cost for anyone interested. It will take approximately three
hours to tour the museum. All forms and fees must be received
by the Bureau’s main office no later than Friday, March
26, 2010.

The Bureau will be visiting
Washington, D.C. for the second time this year on Wednesday,
July 7. This weekday trip will offer the participant an opportunity
to visit Government buildings normally closed on the weekend.
If you are interested in joining us, return the registration
form and fees to the Bureau’s main office by 4:00 PM
on Friday, July 7th.
The bus will leave from the Forrest
Avenue parking lot of Alverthorpe Park at 7:30 AM sharp! We
will make one brief stop on the way down and one on the way
back.
We will be dropping off at the Air
and Space Museum and the Holocaust Memorial Museum. If you
plan to visit the Holocaust Museum please indicate that on
the registration form. It takes 2-3 hours for the self-guided
tour the Museum.

Tennis Open
Abington Township Parks and Recreation

Inner
Harbor Baltimore
The Parks & Recreation Department
will be traveling to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for a
day on your own. While there you can check out the Gallery
and Harborplace (with over 160 shops and restaurants), visit
Ft. McHenry, or go to the National Aquarium (discount tickets
can be purchased through the Parks Department). There will
be plenty of time to go to Fells Point or tour the historic
ships or just enjoy the harbor itself.
