ESTATE REGISTRY

GENERAL REFERENCES

125-1. Registry established.
A registry of the ownership of all real estate in the
Township of Abington, County of Montgomery, Pennsylvania,
is hereby established.
125-2. Preparation of books, maps and plans.
The Township Engineer shall cause to be made all necessary
books, maps and plans as will show the situation and
dimensions of each property in the township, the house
number, if any, and the name of the owner or owners
thereof, with blank spaces to insert the name of the
owner of each lot, with provision for the names of future
owners and dates of future transfers of title. For such
purpose, the Township Engineer shall have free access,
without charge, to any of the public records wherein
the necessary information may be obtainable therefor,
and may also cause search to be made in any other place
for any muniments or evidence of title not reported
to the Engineer and requisite for the completion of
such books, maps or plans. All such books, maps and
plans shall be carefully preserved in the office of
the Township Engineer and shall be so kept, by additions
from time to time, as to show at all times the ownership
of every lot or piece of real estate or subdivisions
thereof within the limits of Abington Township, with
the successive transmissions of title from the date
of this chapter.
125-3. Copies of entries; fee.
Certified copies, under the hand of the Township Engineer,
of any of the entries in said books or upon said maps
or plans, shall be furnished to any person desiring
the same upon the payment of a fee of $0.50 per page.
125-4. Registration requirements. [Amended 2-9-1989
by Ord. No. 1647]
All persons acquiring title to real estate in Abington
Township, whether by purchase, devise, partition or
in any other manner whatsoever, shall present to the
Township Engineer for filing at his office in the Township
Building, within one month after acquiring such title,
descriptions of their respective properties in the form
of an original deed to be stamped by said Engineer as
evidence of the registry thereof.
125-5. Recording of deeds. [Amended 2-9-1989 by Ord.
No. 1647]
The Prothonotary and Recorder of Deeds of Montgomery
County shall not admit for record any deed to any property
in Abington Township bearing a date subsequent to the
approval of this chapter, unless the same shall first
have been duly stamped, as hereinbefore provided.
125-5.1. Filing fee. [Added 2-9-1989 by Ord. No. 1647]
A fee of $10 shall be paid, at the time of filing,
for each registry of ownership filed.
125-6. Violations and penalties. [Amended 3-11-1976
by Ord. No. 1420; 2-9-1989 by Ord. No. 1647]
Any person or persons neglecting or refusing to comply
with the provisions of this chapter for a period of
30 days after public notice of the requirements hereof
shall be liable for a fine not to exceed $100, plus
the cost of suit upon summary conviction before a District
Justice.
