Briar Bush Nature Center is an oasis in the midst of the Philadelphia suburbs, a nature center and museum, bird observatory, natural playground and pond where you can hike, explore, learn and relax. We offer natural science experiences for children and adults, and trips and lectures for lifelong learners.
We also take our show on the road with outreach to day cares, schools, communities of faith and senior living centers. No matter where you are, we can bring the natural world to you.
Children and adults alike can learn about native plants and animals through our exhibits and live animals. Animals, including turtles, birds and more, are housed inside and out.
In Briar Bush’s 12-acre forest, you can walk a mile of hiking trails, pause in the Griscom Bird Observatory to watch birds, enjoy the pond with the frogs and turtles. Children love the playscape, a quarter acre playground made with all natural materials, featuring a stream and a sand pit. Unplug and be welcomed into a world of wonders.
The mission of Briar Bush is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to explore and protect nature by encouraging curiosity and scientific inquiry.
